Project Synopsis

Our client though possessing a mid sized home, had a small inefficient kitchen, minimal work areas and very little storage.

The kitchen, dining and living room areas were separate spaces with very little flow.

The wall was opened up between the kitchen and adjacent room to create an island area, visually open to the dining room. The service area counters were angled at the sink peninsula and interior corner to maximize work and storage areas. The angled sink peninsula created a more expansive aisle. Additional storage was provided within the breakfast bar, built in pantry and library centre.

Bulkheads were retained and additional were contined within the space. Rerouting the ducting for the sake of increasing cabinet height would have been a very costly option.

Deck Addition

Our client had a spectacular expansive backyard with a clear view to the Greenbelt beyond.

The clients were also avid gardeners and loved to entertain. Fruit orchards, a large vegetable garden and existing perennial beds surrounded the home.

The existing builders deck was a very sad structure. Our clients could not wait to tear it down and we were excited to work with them to create their dream oasis.

Project Synopsis

We created a two tiered deck with a full pergola on the upper level and a partial pergola shading the secondary seating area on the lower deck. Perimeter seating is flanked by planter boxes on the lower level. Additional planters are located by the entrance into the kitchen on the upper level as well as to the right of the wraparound stairs connecting the deck levels.

Wraparound stairs lead from the lower level to the orchard, while the secondary stairs lead into the vegetable garden.

Our design preserved the existing perennial beds, by incorporating a curved deck cutout feature.

The latticed trellis on the upper level offered privacy and shade for its southern exposure.

The owners had incorporated wisterias at the pergola locations which now provide shade and a spectacular show of blooms in the summer months.

Project Synopsis

Second floor bedroom space utilization was enhanced by increasing the master bathroom bedroom space and creating a private bathroom for the secondary bedroom. Closets were relocated to maximize the bedrooms' usable spaces. Upgrades included new fixtures, flooring, vanities, crown moulding and baseboards.
